According to the latest statistics released by Taiwan's Ministry of Education, the number of overseas students coming to Taiwan increased by 60 percent over the past three years.
The number totaled 25,107 in 2011, and had increased to 40,078 in 2014.
A majority of the overseas student were from mainland China. Taiwan began to open its university doors to Chinese students in 2011, and in 2014, a total of 5,881 Chinese students were studying in Taiwan, mostly in business and engineering related degrees.
Having achieved fruitful results with its current program, the ministry said it will continue to step up its efforts to attract overseas students.
